A deemed university is a higher education institution that has been awarded university status by the Indian government. Following the UGC’s recommendation, the government issues this pronouncement, which is then published in the Official Gazette. Deemed universities are accorded this designation because they are thought to be performing at a very high level in a specific field of study. They have the same academic standing and privileges as a university, including the authority to offer degrees at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate levels.
