NLU
National Law Universities (NLU) are public law schools in India that were established in response to the Bar Council of India's second-generation legal education reform proposals. The first NLU was the National Law School of India University in Bangalore, which welcomed its first students in 1988. Since then, the majority of Indian states have set up NLUs. Currently, there are 27 NLUs across the country, one of which is an off-center campus of NLU Gandhinagar, GNLU SILVASSA Campus. Since their founding, NLUs have consistently been ranked as one of India's and the world's most renowned and premier law schools by numerous agencies, and they are also known as the IITs of Legal Education.Admissions to these law schools are done through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), except for National Law University, Delhi, which admits students through its own entrance examination named All India Law Entrance Test (AILET).
